The supermoto racers are back again for the third year in a row and are now firm favourites with the Convention crowd. The racing last year had to be seen to be believed. Our invited riders from down south put on a terrific show and were often three abreast even on the dirt. The good news is that Chris Hodgson, Craig Venske and Richard Blakeman are coming back. Making his debut at Alford this year will be the British S3 champion Ben Stafford. The home riders will be well represented with Dougie Cunningham on his Honda CRF450 the man most likely to take on the English "invaders". With a packed programme this year there will be only two races limited to the top twenty riders.

If you haven't seen these guys before then you'll want to know that supermoto bikes are modified motocross bikes with stiff suspension, quick shifters, uprated brakes and big slick tyres. This combination allows them fantastic acceleration and phenomenal stopping power. They race on tracks that are part dirt, with berms and jumps, and part tarmac which is usually tight and twisty. This creates fast and furious racing which is truly amazing to watch.
